The Powershred DS1 is not really a heavy-duty shredder, it is more of a home or small office shredder, but it can shred 11 sheets per pass into cross-cut particles or confetti measuring 5/32" x 1-3/8" at 130 sheets per minute. The paper entry is 9" wide and accepts letter or legal size documents. The hard wearing steel cutters can deal with credit cards, envelopes, staples, and small paper clips. A 4.75-gallon step-can style wastebasket is included and can easily be emptied by stepping down and removing the basket. A magnetic safety interlock turns the shredder off if the wastebasket is removed. The auto start/stop feature ensures fast shredder operation, while a reverse function unjams any paper jams.

Customer feedback sems generally good but bear this warning in mind from one user whose Powershred DS1 Shredder (3011001) stopped working "I contacted Fellowes and they are replacing my DS-1. They said it cannot run for more than 5 minutes without cooling down or the controller card will burn out due to overload. I told them they need to do a better job of advising consumers that this 5 minute limit is critical." So if you are reading this you have been warned !
